ChatGPT + Quickesign

Control your signs by asking ChatGPT.

Connect QuickeSign once, then build layouts, check what is playing, manage media and schedules, and publish approved changes in plain language.

QuickeSign MCP server

01 · Connect

Connect ChatGPT to Quickesign.

Add Quickesign’s server in ChatGPT, then sign in to the Quickesign account that owns your screens.

You need

  • A QuickeSign account that owns your screens
  • ChatGPT on the web with custom MCP connections available
  • Workspace permission to add and use a custom connection

You do not need

  • An OpenAI API key for this connection
  • A public Quickesign plugin or a separate software install
  • To put your password into a chat
1

Open ChatGPT’s connection settings

In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server. Availability depends on your account and workspace permissions.

2

Enter Quickesign’s connection details

Name the connection Quickesign. Paste https://quickesign.net/mcp into the server URL field and choose OAuth authentication.

3

Create the connection and sign in

Review ChatGPT’s connection warning and continue if you accept it. Select Create as a plugin. Complete the Quickesign sign-in and approve access when prompted.

4

Select Quickesign in a new chat

Install the new connection from your personal plugins. Open a new Work chat, type @, and select Quickesign.

5

Check your screens

Use the question below. Confirm that the screen names belong to your account before requesting an update.

Your first prompt · after connecting

Use Quickesign to list my screens by name, show which ones are running, and tell me what layouts are assigned. Do not make any changes.

Pasting this prompt alone does not connect your account. Complete the setup steps first.

Menu names can change. See OpenAI’s custom MCP connection guide and connection quickstart. Setup guidance checked October 6, 2026.

Verify it worked

The response should show your own screen names, current status, and assigned layouts. No changes are needed to verify the connection.

02 · Use

Ask for the outcome you want.

Name the screen and layout every time, just as you would when giving instructions to a teammate.

Check what is live

“What is playing on Roku Right right now?”

Find unused layouts

“List my layouts and tell me which ones are not on any screen.”

Create a board

“Make a new menu board for the lobby screen with today’s specials. Show me the plan before you build it.”

Edit exact text

“On the Coffee Menu layout, change the Drip Coffee price to $3.25.”

Add a news widget

“On the Lobby News layout, add an ESPN NFL RSS slide with the image on the right and up to 3 stories.”

Schedule content

“On Roku Right, schedule the Brunch layout at 7:15 a.m. and the Lunch Specials layout at 11:30 a.m. every day, using New York time.”

Name the target

Include the exact screen name and layout name.

Supply exact content

Give the final wording, price, time, and font size.

Preview big changes

Ask ChatGPT to explain the plan before a redesign or publish.

Label templates

Say “Use sample data—this is a template” when appropriate.

03 · Control

Protect the screen that is already live.

A precise target and a quick confirmation keep updates intentional.

Confirm before publishing

Ask: “Tell me exactly which screen and layout you are about to change, and wait for me to say go.”

Check similar names

Left / Right and Lobby / Office are easy to confuse. Confirm the destination before a live change.

Keep passwords out of chat

QuickeSign sign-in and approval happen on the QuickeSign website through OAuth.

Judge live widgets on the TV

Weather, news, quotes, video, and clocks may look blank in a still preview. Check the TV for the live result.

04 · Help

Fix the symptom you see.

After any reconnect, run the read-only verification question again before making a live change.

Do I need a public Quickesign plugin?

No. Use the manual custom MCP connection described above. You do not need to find Quickesign in a public directory.

I cannot find Add custom MCP server

Use ChatGPT on the web and check that your account and workspace allow custom MCP connections. Ask your workspace administrator if the option is unavailable. Refer to the linked OpenAI guide for current setup labels.

ChatGPT gives advice but cannot see my screens

Make sure the connection is installed, sign-in is complete, and Quickesign is selected in your new chat. Pasting the server URL into an ordinary message does not by itself connect Quickesign.

Sign-in succeeds, but screens are wrong or missing

Reconnect and sign in with the Quickesign account that owns those screens. Ask for a screen list again before making any changes.

Quickesign tools are missing or out of date

Open the Quickesign connection’s settings and refresh its tools. Check that the tools you need are enabled, then start a new chat and select Quickesign again.

The sign-in page does not open, or setup asks for credentials

Check that the server URL is exactly https://quickesign.net/mcp and authentication is set to OAuth. Allow the sign-in window if your browser blocks it. Do not enter your Quickesign password into client ID or client secret fields. Contact Quickesign support if setup cannot continue.

The preview and TV do not match

Live widgets such as clocks and news may look different in a still preview. If the TV itself is wrong, give ChatGPT the exact screen name and describe what you see.

Can ChatGPT change my subscription or turn off my TV?

This connection manages Quickesign content and screen assignments. It does not purchase or change subscriptions, permanently delete layouts, or turn off your television. Manage your plan in the Quickesign dashboard.

How do I remove access?

Disconnect Quickesign in ChatGPT. Revoke the connection in Quickesign’s account controls if available, or contact Quickesign support for help.
